Meet the Team

I am Dr. Tynesha Chandler. I grew up in North Charleston, SC, with my mother and father (Maggie and Glenn). From a young age, I attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where I got my humble beginnings in understanding both who I was and Who’s I was. My grandmother Eva, a very big inspiration to who I would become, was one of the most devout followers of Christ and an exemplary example of a servant. Through this, it was instilled in me from a young age that service to others was the most rewarding feeling. It was all a part of God’s plan because the heart that He gave me was one that is innately adept to serving. I was able to sing in the choir and develop a passion for arts which led me to attend the Charleston County School of the Arts with a major in vocal for my high school career. After completion of high school I went on to attend Lander University in Greenwood, SC, where I graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry. I then entered the work force as a chemist for a pharmaceutical company for a few years before getting back to my true love…serving others.

In 2007, my father, Glenn, passed away from a rare disease. This was a pivotal time in my life as I was just entering adulthood and dealing with a loss as great as a father. Through this time, he was placed on Hospice and given medications to make his transition comfortable. This piqued my interest in medicine. I was still deciding my career path at this point but pharmacy had a special place for the comfort it gave both my father and myself during such a difficult time. I became a pharmacy technician and fell in love. I always kept my job in pharmacy while I completed undergrad and even after while I took a break from school. In 2014, I gave birth to my reason for still being here , Skylar, and began the last leg of my scholastic career by entering pharmacy school at Presbyterian College of Pharmacy.

I chose PC because their motto was “dum vivimus, servimus” which translates to “while we live, we serve”. Through my 4 years I was a member of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SnPhA) and I had countless opportunities to do what I loved by serving others and making a difference in the community. Once I completed my Doctorate in Pharmacy I began practicing at several pharmacies in the area. In doing so, I noticed a great need. That is when the vision was written clearly for me to do a work in our community and A Heart for Health was born.

I look forward to expanding this bio with all the amazing things I will get to do with each and every one of you that contributes financially or with your time and effort towards making our community more knowledgeable and healthier.

Let the journey begin….
